Hello!

So, a little bit about me... I'm Maxine, I live in Colchester, Essex with my lovely husband, our two beautiful daughters & two gorgeous greyhounds. I run Down the Cake Hole from our home kitchen in Layer-de-la-Haye.

I love reading, I'm a chocoholic, a Potterhead and I drink waaayyyy too much tea!

I am a self-taught baker and have loved baking (and eating) sweet treats for as long as I can remember. I bake a lot with my girls at home; they love to get creative and messy in the kitchen. 

Down the Cake Hole was a social media account I set up for fun to share all my bakes with like-minded people but it quickly turned into a business in June 2021. I specialise in bespoke buttercream celebration cakes, I also stock local shops and have a cake shed outside my home once a month packed full of treats.

I have a Food Hygiene rating of 5*, a level 2 certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene, Food Allergy & Intolerance training and am fully insured so you can feel at ease when ordering with me!
